Health Tip

Controlling your blood pressure is critical
According to JNC VII (the seventh report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure):
  • Normal blood pressure is below 120/80 mm Hg
  • A blood pressure of 120/80 mm Hg to 139/89 mm Hg is called "prehypertension." Those in the 130/80 mm Hg to 139/89 mm Hg range are at twice the risk of developing high blood pressure
  • A blood pressure of 140/90 mm Hg or above is considered high blood pressure

Even though you might not feel high blood pressure, it is a major risk factor for many kinds of health problems, including:

  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Kidney disease
  • Heart failure

LSFD Responds to I-71 Crash - Posted June 6, 2006

LSFD responded to a serious crash this morning on I-71, just south of Fields Ertel Road, in the north bound lane. Responding were C-1, C-2, C-4, Battalion 1 along with E-62, Ladder 63, Medic's 60 and 61 as well as LSFD ESU.

Two cars and two SUV's were involved in the crash. It appears that the red SUV crossed over the grassy medium as it was traveling south bound and struck the vehicles that were traveling north bound. Two adults were critically injured and were extricated and treated by our firemedics and firefighters as well as the personnel from our mutual aid companies.. The most serious were flown from the scene by 2 helicopters from University Hospital in Cincinnati and Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. We also had several less serious injuries.

Along with Loveland-Symmes Fire, we also had units from Montgomery, Sycamore, Sharonville and Deerfield. Miami Township moved up. Our dispatchers, Northeast CC did an excellent job with C-3 in attendance.
