The
Loveland-Symmes Fire Department Promotes Fire Prevention Month
- Posted 10/8/07
As National Fire Prevention Week takes place, the
Loveland-Symmes Fire Department is conducting “fire safety talks” at
local area schools. On
Friday, October 5th, the crew of Q63 gave the “fire safety
talk” to six first grade classes at the Loveland Early Childhood Center
on Loveland-Miamiville Road (pictures below).
Topics discussed with the children included: what to do when you
wake up and find your bedroom full of smoke, home escape plans and
family meeting places, calling 911, NOT going back into a home that is
on fire once you have left it, and the finer points of “stop, drop, and
roll.” Students also had the
opportunity to spin the “fire safety wheel” to win prizes and take a
look at the fire truck. The
crew of Q63 also passed out bookmarks as part of the LSFD’s “Blazing the
Trail to Literacy” reading program.
Kids, watch out for the fire safety crew at your school sometime
during the month of October! And remember, “Practice your Escape Plan!”
For more information on the “Blazing the Trail to
Literacy” program and to schedule other public education programs that
the LSFD provides to the public (such as fire station tours, birthday
parties, and neighborhood block parties) contact Lieutenant Steven Money
at Station 63 on C-Shift.
The number is (513) 683-3940 or you can email Lieutenant Money directly
at smoney@safety-center.org.
