Chief of Department Otto Huber is participating in a study conducted at the Underwriters laboratories in Chicago IL. The study managed by Deputy Chief Steve Kerber CPFD and fire suppression engineer for UL, was funded by the Federal Assistance to Firefighters grant. The purpose of the study is to determine the affects of ventilation on fire suppression activities. Homes were built inside a laboratory in Underwriters Chicago facility much like the homes the LSFD responds to everyday. Once the results of the testing are analyzed the information and lessons learned will be provided to the fire Service. Members of the Chicago and FDNY along with scientists from across the country are involved in the study.
